History of Hungarian judo
prepared by Dr. Ferenc Galla
These are the notes prepared by Dr. Ferenc Galla on the occasion of the 40 years anniversary
of the foundation of the Hungarian Judo Association. On p. 2 he refers to Mr. Kichisaburo Sasaki
- according to this work, he teached in Budapest at the BEAC Budapest University Sport Club in
Lágymányos. He notes that 620 students indicated their interest in the first judo training course in May 1907, but only 60 were admitted to the course. However, only 10 persons remained after two weeks, and after the third week, only 6 students remained. However, they have then remained faithful to their outstanding teacher.

He also notes a subsequent trip by dr. Lajos Cselőtei to visit Jigoro Kano in 1909 to learn the secret of the Japanese training, a trip that he reported about in the december 18. issue of the sport newspaper "Nemzeti Sport" and various future developments that we cannot detail here, see the video for some interesting historical records.
